Part 107 Recurrent Training

The Remote Pilot Certificate card does not simply expire every two years, but recent aeronautical knowledge must be maintained through the applicable recurrent training.

The currency rule

To exercise Part 107 privileges, a remote pilot must have completed the applicable recurrent knowledge training within the preceding 24 calendar months. The FAA currently provides online recurrent training at no cost.

Choose the correct course

  • All Part 107 remote pilots: use the current FAA course identified for Part 107 recurrent training, presently ALC-677.
  • Eligible current Part 61 pilots: the FAA also lists the applicable current course for the Part 61 route, presently ALC-515.
Course numbers can change. Follow the current FAA “Become a Certificated Remote Pilot” page rather than relying on an old bookmarked course title.

Recordkeeping

Currency is only one layer

Recent training does not automatically make the pilot proficient with a new aircraft, payload, flight mode, or operation. Maintain aircraft-specific practice, emergency procedures, airspace knowledge, and mission records.
