Drone Registration and Remote ID

The pilot certificate belongs to the person. Registration and Remote ID compliance attach to the aircraft or module used for the operation.

Part 107 registration basics

  • Register each aircraft used under Part 107 individually in FAA DroneZone.
  • The current fee is generally $5 per aircraft for a three-year registration period.
  • Display the registration number on an external surface as required.
  • Carry access to the registration certificate during operation.
  • Update or cancel records when ownership or aircraft status changes.

Do not use a recreational registration as a shortcut for Part 107 aircraft. The registration category must match the operation, and Part 107 aircraft are registered individually.
